Cell-Lyte 2000 is a fast acting electrolyte paste to quickly replenish major electrolytes and trace minerals lost in sweat. Supports hydration, energy production, heart and lung function, and stress recovery. For use pre- and post event to maintain the balance and flow of vital body fluids, and provides healthy support for the muscles and circulatory system.

Feed at a rate of 20 to 40 ml daily, or after a competition or training to aid in recuperation.

Best administered after the horse has consumed water.  2-4 doses per tube.

Cell Lyte is a Sodium rich electrolyte formula that complements typical equine diets.  Feed 30 ml per day in addition to free choice salt (salt is Sodium Chloride) or 60 ml per day to meet baseline Sodium requirements in horses that do not voluntarily take in salt well.  Feed another 60 ml per hour of exercise when sweat replacement is needed.

The horse must replace electrolytes lost in sweat and body fluids on a daily basis.  Diet can meet some of these needs, but the balance can sometimes only be maintained by supplementation to support healthy fluid and electrolyte balance.

Electrolytes are minerals that are present in the body in an electrically charged form.  The major ones are Sodium, Potassium, and Chloride with smaller contributions from Calcium, Magnesium, and Sulfate.

These electrolytes have many important functions.  They are responsible for holding water in the blood and tissues to prevent dehydration, moving fluids around, as in the production of mucus and urine, and movement of water out of and into the intestinal tract to facilitate the exchange of nutrients into the bloodstream.  The flow of certain electrolytes makes the cells act like batteries in control of the heartbeat, muscle contraction, and nerve firing.  Electrolyte shifts also trigger a host of other cellular functions.

Electrolytes are lost on a daily basis in mucus, tears, manure, and urine.  If weather is warm or the horse is exercising, this also causes additional substantial losses in sweat.  The diet provides generous levels of electrolyte minerals except for Sodium, which is too low in all equine feeds.  Dietary supplies of Chloride are also low in some hays, which are the major source of Chloride.  Extra Potassium can be needed when horses sweat heavily or are not taking in enough Sodium.
