Question: What is good product for EPM?

Dr. Kellon: The most important thing about treating EPM is the medication your veterinarian will prescribe. Beyond that, nutritional support should address the oxidative stress and support healing.
The foundation of this is a quality diet with adequate protein and a mineral/vitamin supplement to balance the  deficiencies and excesses in your hay. It should have little or no iron and in most cases little or no manganese. If you tell us where your hay was grown we can make a suggestion.

Beyond that, most vets agree high dose vitamin E is helpful. Our Liquid E-50 is E in oil for improved absorption. Give 2 tsp/day. Acetyl-L-carnitine is a nutrient that is important for the protective myelin sheath on regenerating nerves. Feed 1 gram per 100 lbs of body weight. If your horse is symptomatic, consider boosting antioxidant defenses with our Bio-Quench or Phyto-Quench.
