Question: Can a horse be on the gut formula consistently? I have a gelding with a touchy stomach that gets loose manure easily from worming or diet change or stress. The Gut product eliminates it. One of my friends thought that it may not be good for horses to be on licorice consistently.

Dr. Kellon: There is a substance in licorice called glycyrrhizin that can cause hormonal and fluid balance upsets with chronic use, but this has been removed from the licorice used in G.U.T. and it is perfectly safe for long term use.
