Dr. Kellon: Taurine is an organic acid, a derivative of the amino acid cysteine. It is normally present in the body and has a wide range of effects. In the brain, taurine has an anti-anxiety effect while also improving concentration and memory. Inositol is another naurally occuring substance found in the body and in foods. It has been demonstrated to have clear effects in controlling anxiety without any side effects.
